The notorious monument to Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia, in Odesa, has been covered with a black bag for garbage like one used for corpses, social media users reported on Nov. 6.
Shared images show the monument is still on its pedestal fully covered with black plastic bag.
It's still unknown if it's a part of preparation for the monument dismantling, still now it looks similar to eliminated Russian invaders of Ukraine, like the Empress herself was.
Just before the citizens of Odesa voted for the dismantling of the monument to Catherine II.
The mayor of Odesa, Gennadiy Trukhanov, who has protected the famous monument and even allocated over UAH 2 million (about $55,000) of budget funds for its protection, agreed for the dismantling.
