Klitschko tells Kyiv to prepare for new Russian attacks

As the Ukrainian capital was recovering from a Russian air strike that left much of city in blackout on Oct. 10, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko warned a new attack could occur in the coming days and urged residents to prepare accordingly.
Klitschko stated the situation with power supply in Kyiv remains challenging and that the enemy shows no signs of stopping.
“Let's be honest and stop downplaying the situation,” the mayor said in a Telegram post.
“I urge Kyiv's residents to stay focused and act pragmatically. Stock up on water, prepare a first-aid kit, gather food supplies, and charge portable power devices. Get warm clothes ready. Don't ignore air raid warnings.”
According to Klitschko, the Oct. 10 attack on Kyiv was one of the most challenging in terms of its aftermath. As of 6:00 p.m., repair crews were still working to restore power to more than 423,000 households. The water supply system was operational by that time.
“All city services are working around the clock and in an emergency mode to restore the stable operation of the city's essential systems,” he added.
Earlier in the day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian forces had launched more than 450 drones and over 30 missiles in a massive overnight attack targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and civilian facilities.
A seven-year-old child was killed in Zaporizhzhya. More than 20 people were injured across the country.
Parts of the Ukrainian capital remain without power.
