Mystery sounds reported explosions in Mykoliav Oblast, origin unknown
There have been several reports of explosions in Mykoliav Oblast causing a considerable degree of confusion about their origin on Oct, 7, amid unconfirmed reports of a Russian missile launch, according to MP Oleksiy Honcharenko.
The Mayor of Mykoliav, Oleksandr Senkevych published a social media post at 2:12 p.m. urging residents to refrain from taking videos and to seek safety.
“We will provide all the official information later,” Senkevych said.
Mykoliav Oblast governor Vitaliy Kim then subsequently reported that the explosions occurred outside of Mykoliav city and that an investigation remains ongoing.
The Telegram channel “Mykolaiv Vanek” also reported a possible ballistic strike, confirming that it likely occurred outside the city.
However, a military drone was reportedly downed in the region, with explosions heard at 3:34 p.m. Unverified social media reports claim explosions were also recorded as a result.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
