NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, U.S. Air Force Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, said his forces would "destroy everything" if Russia attacked the alliance, Reuters reported, citing his remarks at a security forum in Warsaw on Oct. 12.

“If anyone is foolish enough to attack us, we will fight. We will stop the attack and deny the aggressor the ability to achieve its objectives, whatever they may be. In doing so, we will ensure that any attack on any ally proves completely futile,” he said.

“If the adversary decides to continue the attack or commit its reserves, we will destroy the entire warfighting system being used against us. This includes not only the attacking forces themselves but also everything that supports and controls them,” the NATO commander said.

Alexus Grynkewich stressed that he did not consider a potential conflict inevitable. However, he said his plan was aimed at “preparing to carry out our most sacred duty: defending our people and our territory.”

Reuters noted that Grynkewich’s remarks were “clearly directed at Moscow,” although he did not explicitly mention Russia.

On Oct. 5, Bloomberg reported that NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe Alexus Grynkewich would present a strategy called Theory of Victory in Warsaw. The strategy envisions rapidly repelling a potential Russian attack on NATO’s eastern flank using new technologies.

On Oct. 1, Vladimir Putin threatened to use nuclear weapons in the event of a military conflict with NATO during a speech at a plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club.

Also on Oct. 1, the U.S. Defense Department announced that the United States would deploy about 40 Marines to the Baltic Sea region. The U.S. troops will join Finnish forces as part of NATO’s Baltic Sentry mission, which aims to protect critical undersea infrastructure.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
