The Netherlands will withdraw from the UK-led Operation Interflex training program for Ukrainian forces, the Dutch Defense Ministry said on June 8.

“Interflex was established a few months after the Russian invasion of Ukraine; its goal was to provide Ukrainian recruits with basic military training,” the statement said.

“Ultimately, more than 63,000 Ukrainian soldiers were trained, including approximately 11,000 instructors. Through this, Ukraine has built up increasing capacity to provide basic training itself.”

According to the ministry, the program continues under British leadership in a new phase, shifting the emphasis from basic training to specialized training.

The ministry added that Dutch support for Ukraine will continue uninterrupted: the Netherlands will still contribute to Ukrainian training efforts through other channels, including the European training mission EUMAM.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
