Netherlands to supply Ukraine with Soviet-era artillery shells
The Netherlands will deliver $376 million worth of 152mm artillery ammunition to Ukraine, the Dutch government announced on June 13.
According to the message, the shells’ procurement was funded by the International Ukraine Support Fund.
The Dutch Defense Ministry added that for security reasons, the exact number of shells and their delivery schedule will remain undisclosed.
"This is one of the largest orders from the International Ukraine Support Fund (IFU) to the global armaments industry," a ministry spokesperson added.
Previous tranches of Western military aid primarily consisted of 155mm rounds, as Ukraine has received a considerable number of 155mm howitzers since early 2022. However, a large portion of the artillery systems used by Ukrainian troops are still based on Soviet-era 152mm guns.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
