Ukraine unveils new naval drone at Odesa Black Sea Security Forum 2024
A new state-of-the-art Ukrainian maritime drone, named Stalker 5.0, was introduced at the Black Sea Security Forum 2024 in Odesa, Dumska media reported on June 16.
The drone measures 5 meters in length and 1.2 meters in width. It is designed for various missions, including reconnaissance and coastal patrol operations in marine and riverine border areas.
Stalker 5.0 features a specialized compartment and therefore is capable of transporting water, food, military equipment, and other cargos to islands or coastal areas where Ukrainian Defense Forces are deployed.
Powered by a 60-horsepower outboard gasoline engine, the drone can achieve speeds exceeding 40 knots (approximately 75 km/h, or 46 mph), with a cruising speed of 30 knots (55 km/h, or 34 mph).
Equipped with a communication and control system based on Starlink technology, the cost of a single unit is around 60 thousand euros ($64 thousand).
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
