The next two or three months of the war will be very important and decisive, the Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, Oleksiy Danilov, said on Ukrainian national television on Jan. 12.

“The next two or three months … will be decisive in this battle,” Danilov said.

According to Danilov, both Ukraine and Russia are preparing for the coming heavy fighting.

Earlier on Jan. 6, Danilov said Ukraine is now entering the penultimate, offensive stage of the war.

Kyrylo Budanov, chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, said on Dec. 6 that “there will still be some difficult times, but Russia’s defeat is already a settled issue — and they know it very well.”

He also predicted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would re-enter the Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory of Crimea by the end of spring 2023.
