Rescuers dig for survivors in Ternopil - 26 missing

Search and rescue operations continued through the night in Ternopil following the devastating Russian missile strike on an apartment building early on Nov. 19, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) reported the following morning, sharing photos from the site on Telegram.
More than 700 square meters of debris have been cleared and approximately 230 cubic meters of destroyed structures have been removed.
The operation is hindered by heavy structural fragmentation, extensive destruction, and the need to manually dismantle multiple sections of the collapsed building. More than 230 rescuers and 50 units of equipment are involved in the response.
The death toll remains at 26, including three children. At least 93 people, including 18 children, were injured.
Emergency crews have rescued 46 people so far. According to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, 26 people are still missing.
Officials said efforts will continue until all missing people are located.
On Nov. 19, two high-rise apartment buildings were hit during a massive Russian air assault on Ukraine, triggering fires and causing extensive damage. According to Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat, a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile directly struck and partially destroyed one of the buildings. Industrial and critical infrastructure facilities were also targeted.
