The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom has denied a report by UK tabloid The Daily Mirror that the UK would be sending Apache attack helicopters to Ukraine, according to Sky News security and defense editor Deborah Haynes on Twitter on Jan. 16.
The Daily Mirror report initially stated that four Apache helicopters, armed with Hellfire missiles were slated for transfer, alongside Challenger 2 tanks. The tanks, according to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office, are still on the table – with 14 destined to reach the Ukrainian Armed Forces thus far.
In addition, the MoD confirmed that it will also be sending 30 AS90 self-propelled guns. Training for Ukrainian forces on these new weapons will commence shortly, the PM’s Office added.
