No draft notices in Diia, ever – Fedorov
Draft notices will never be issued through the Diia app, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said on Dec. 24.
“There will never be draft notices in Diia. It’s as simple as that,” wrote Fedorov on Telegram.
The Diia app is a smartphone application designed by the Ukrainian government and can serve as legal ID, automobile deed, and provides other government-related functions.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov stated on Dec. 23 that the government is considering the possibility of summoning men to military conscription through electronic notifications, but did not specify the platform.
In the fall, there were already reports circulating that the government was allegedly considering issuing draft notices through the Diia app. At that time, Fedorov also refuted these rumors.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
