NV, the parent outlet of the New Voice of Ukraine, is among highest quality and most responsible online media in Ukraine, according to a study by experts of the Institute of Mass Information (IMI) published on Sept. 26.

The Institute's experts compiled a list of the highest quality and most responsible online media, based on a two-stage in-depth monitoring study conducted in July-September 2022.

The list includes nine national online media that scored the highest points in the assessment of compliance with professional standards and had the lowest rates of error and bias as of September 2022. The best outlets included (in no particular order, without ranking):

Video of day

  • NV
  • Suspilne (UA:PBC)
  • hromadske
  • Babel
  • Liga
  • Ukrainska Pravda
  • Ukrinform
  • Radio Liberty
  • Dzerkalo Tyzhnia

For the first stage of the study, IMI experts selected 50 popular Ukrainian online media (based on the data of previous monitoring by IMI, SimilarWeb and Gemius). Their content was assessed for the presence of

Manipulation;

Fakes;

hate speech;

black PR;

violations of ethics;

presence of potentially paid content.

In the second stage of the study, the media that passedthrough the first stage were analyzed according to the following criteria:

compliance with the standards of unbiased reporting, reliability, and separation of facts from opinion;

transparency — availability of contacts on the website, editorial policy, information about the owner, information about the people responsible for the content, etc.

According to the analysis, the level of compliance with professional standards on the outlets included in the “White List” is about 96% on average. No hidden advertising (although there were pieces with improper labeling), hate speech, sexism and fakes were found in the main news feeds on these sites.

The full research methodology is available here.

NV has been on the "White List" of Ukrainian online media for several years. In the fall of 2021, NV was included in the list of 10 editorial offices with the highest level of compliance with journalistic standards in Ukraine — also according to the results of the Institute of Mass Information monitoring.

In addition, in September 2021, NV was ranked second among Ukrainian media outlets that journalists trust the most (the results of the survey were presented by the PointeR Agency communication agency).
