A girl who was separated from her family at the start of the war returned home safely
Another child has been returned from the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, the Ministry of Reintegration reported on Feb. 10.
According to the report, at the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, the girl was visiting her grandparents. They could not leave the occupied territories because her grandmother was seriously ill. The Ministry of Reintegration added that the parents were not able to take the girl with them when they left, considering it too risky.
The girl's mother, Mariya, asked the agency for help in December 2023, when the child's grandmother died. Two months later, the child was able to be returned as part of the Way Home project.
The Ministry of Reintegration also noted that 56 children have already been returned to government-controlled territory through this project.
On Feb. 2, the charity organization Save Ukraine reported that four children had been returned from the temporarily occupied parts of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts. The youngest one of them was not even a year old.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
