Lviv launches 'Siren' operation to find Andriy Parubiy’s killer
Following the murder of sitting Ukrainian MP and former Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy in Lviv on Aug. 30, authorities initiated a special “Siren” operation to locate the assailant, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported.
According to preliminary information, an unidentified man fired multiple shots at the politician, resulting in Parubiy’s death at the scene.
Law enforcement is working to identify the suspect, with regional prosecutors, National Police leadership, and forensic experts deployed to the site.
A criminal case has been opened for intentional murder under Part 1 of Article 115 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, carrying a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
Earlier on Aug. 30, police reported a shooting in Lviv around noon that killed Andriy Parubiy. Journalist Vitaliy Glagola stated that the shooter, disguised as a Glovo delivery courier, hid the pistol in a bag after the attack. The assailant, wearing a black helmet, fled on an electric bicycle.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that all available resources are being utilized to investigate and apprehend the perpetrator.
