Drones attack Russia’s Bryansk Oblast, investigators’ building, TV tower and microelectronics factory hit
An explosion rocked the State Investigative Committee building in the Russian city of Bryansk early on Aug. 30, as reports came from around European Russia overnight that waves of drones had attacked military air bases and other targets.
The SOTA Telegram channel reported that the explosion in Bryansk was heard around 6 a.m. local time. The blast wave shattered windows in the building, but there was no fire, and no casualties, the city administration reported later.
The post about the explosion at the Investigative Committee building was later deleted by the press service of the administration.
Meanwhile, Bryansk Oblast Governor Alexander Bogomaz said that "two Ukrainian drones" had attempted to attack a TV tower in Bryansk. He claimed that Russian air defense systems had managed to shoot down all of the targets.
Russian authorities typically claim that all attacking drones are either shot down or disabled by electronic warfare systems, causing them to crash. There is evidence, however, that some of the drones reach their intended targets – for instance, a skyscraper in western Moscow that houses offices of several Russian government ministries was hit twice within three days.
Ukraine typically denies being responsible for the drone attacks in Russia, but drones of known Ukrainian manufacture are regularly filmed in Russian skies.
Earlier, it was reported that a drone had crashed onto the premises of Gruppa Kremniy El, a major microelectronics factory in Bryansk, in the early hours of Aug. 30. It is one of the largest microelectronics factories in Russia.
Three Ukrainian drones were shot down over Bryansk, but "no one was injured,” Bogomaz said later.
