Parliament abolishes ‘limited fitness’ classification for conscripts
Men who have been deemed as having limited
fitness for military service will be required to undergo a repeat medical
examination within nine months, according to a bill passed by the Ukrainian
parliament on March 21.
The document amends existing legislation that covers the rights of Ukrainian military personnel and the police force.
The parliamentary Defense Committee also abolished “limited fitness” as a category to classify potential conscripts and recruits for the Armed Forces. Military Medical Commissions would be able to deem a person as either fit or unfit for service.
Similarly, the phrase "limited fitness in wartime" was struck from the books.
The bill also stipulates a monetary compensation of UAH 15 million ($386,000) to the families of soldiers killed in action. It also includes a provision for military personnel to receive continuous medical treatment for up to 12 months without the need to undergo a military-medical examination every four months.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
