One of Russia’s largest oil refineries in Perm has fully halted processing after a Ukrainian drone attack on May 7 and remains offline, Reuters reported, citing sources familiar with the matter on May 13.
The sources said the drone strikes forced the emergency shutdown of three primary crude distillation units and several secondary processing units. One of the units, CDU-4, had already been offline since April 30 following an earlier drone attack.
According to Reuters sources, repairs are expected to take several weeks. The refinery’s owner, Lukoil, did not respond to a request for comment.
On May 8, the Security Service of Ukraine said its drones had struck the Permnefteorgsintez oil refinery and an oil pumping station in the Russian city of Perm for the third time.
On April 30, the SBU also reported a strike on Russian oil infrastructure near Perm, saying facilities at the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez refinery had been damaged.
On April 29, the SBU said it had targeted a Russian oil pumping station near Perm. The drone attack sparked a major fire at the facility.
