Ukrainian Prime Minister Sergii
Koretskyi said the Cabinet has completed 17 of 42 planned decisions
required to secure funding from international partners.
He made the statement on social media on Sept. 30.
Koretskyi said the government has moved to a strict austerity mode and postponed all nonpriority spending, but that these measures are not enough.
He said it is critically important for Ukraine to receive funding from its international partners, adding that the financing depends directly on the country fulfilling its commitments.
According to the PM, the commitments fall into two categories: government measures and legislative changes.
“I personally promised to report on the implementation of the government’s part,” he said.
“Today, at the Cabinet meeting, we adopted four more decisions as part of these commitments. Thus, 17 of the 42 planned decisions have now been completed. We must complete the rest, as promised, by Oct. 15.”
The PM said any delay would come at a very high cost, adding that Ukraine’s defense, the country’s resilience, and its ability to withstand Russian attacks depend on fulfilling these commitments.
On Sept. 14, Koretskyi said Ukraine’s public finances were nearing a critical point and that delays in passing the necessary bills could jeopardize $29.5 billion in international aid.
On Sept. 15, European Commissioners Valdis
Dombrovskis and Marta Kos had sent Ukrainian lawmakers a letter listing the
laws Kyiv must adopt to receive already approved funding from the European
Union.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
