Italian PM Meloni announces visit to Kyiv

Italian PM Giorgia Meloni will visit Ukraine before Feb. 24 – the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of the country – Meloni announced during a joint press briefing with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Feb. 3.

“I will be in Kyiv before Feb. 24 (the first anniversary of Russian invasion),” Meloni said.

She didn't disclose the exact date of her visit.

On Jan. 17, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an interview with the Italian TV channel Rai, said that Prime Minister Meloni, who had provided strong support to Ukraine since she took office, would arrive in Kyiv in near future.
