Poland scrambled military aircraft overnight Oct. 9 in response to a Russian drone attack on western Ukraine, the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command said on X.

"Attention. Due to Russian strikes on targets in western Ukraine using aerial weapons, military aircraft are operating in Polish airspace," the statement said.

The Polish military said it had deployed all necessary forces and resources and placed ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems on high alert.

About an hour later, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced that the operation had ended. The Polish military stressed that no violations of the country’s airspace had been recorded.

Overnight on Oct. 9, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with strike drones, some of which headed toward the country’s western oblasts. A man was killed in a strike on Ivano-Frankivsk.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
