Polish residents will receive text alerts when the country's fighter jets are scrambled in response to threats beyond its eastern border, RMF24 reported, citing Deputy Defense Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka on Aug. 10.

The changes came after a July 30 incident in which a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile violated Polish airspace and crashed in the Lublin region.

Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka told Wirtualna Polska that the military system responded appropriately on July 30 and that the civilian alert system is now being improved.

According to the deputy prime minister, Polish citizens will now receive text message alerts when Poland scrambles fighter jets in response to a large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine.

Overnight into July 30, Russian forces used 358 aerial weapons in a combined attack on Ukraine, with Russia launching a large-scale assault on western regions of the country for the first time in four months.

A powerful explosion was heard in Poland during the July 30 attack. Polish police said they found a crater and debris from an unidentified object in the Lublin region, raising suspicions that it could have been a Russian missile.

On July 31, Poland officially confirmed that the object that crashed in the Lublin region was a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
