Ukraine is still suffering from a significant power deficit, as total generation has decreased due to emergency repair work at a thermal power plant, state-owned power company Ukrenergo said on Telegram on Jan. 21.

While power consumption remained the same, the repair work has resulted in reduced power consumption limits for regional branches, the company explained. Exceeding these limits could damage the grid even more, necessitating the re-introduction of emergency power cuts, Ukrenergo said.

Additionally, power lines are damaged along the front line in Donetsk Oblast.

Earlier, Director at the Energy Industry Research Center, Oleksandr Kharchenko, said that repairs to the Ukrainian power grid would not be felt earlier than mid-February.
