Fraudsters are using the current daily blackout situation to their advantage, Ukraine's Cyber Police Department warned on Telegram.

Russian attacks on Ukraine's power system have led to a power shortage in the country, causing daily blackouts nationwide.  Ukrainians must adapt their lives to these power schedules.

Ukrainians should be attentive when monitoring power outage schedules because criminals can take advantage by creating fake online resources, law enforcement officers said.

For example, fake Telegram bots pretending to be an energy company can spread misinformation, steal confidential data, and commit fraud.

"Be careful! Do not click on links from unfamiliar sources and do not trust third-party resources," the cyber police said.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
