Ukraine’s state-owned PrivatBank is experiencing a technical failure affecting payments and transfers, according to its message posted on Telegram on Sept. 15.

“It seems our payments and transfers decided to take an unscheduled break. We are already fixing everything to restore stable operation as quickly as possible,” the bank said.

PrivatBank is Ukraine’s largest state bank. According to National Bank data, as of Aug. 1, 2026, its total assets stood at 979.31 billion hryvnias ($22 billion), equal to 22.7% of the country’s overall banking assets.

Earlier, on Aug. 15, Ukraine also experienced problems with cashless payments, when money was debited from accounts but transactions were processed with delays.

Telegram channels reported that long lines formed in supermarkets as customers were unable to pay quickly either by card or through payment terminals.

At that time, PrivatBank also said several of its services were experiencing difficulties and promised to resolve the issue soon.
