Putin to use AI to meddle in U.S. elections in ‘much larger’ effort than before — Danilov
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is planning to use artificial intelligence to enhance disinformation campaigns to interfere in the U.S. Presidential election, Ukraine’s National Security Secretary Oleksiy Danilov told The Times on Feb. 27.
The scale of the information interference is expected to be much larger than before, according to Danilov.
The use of artificial intelligence gives Russia significant capabilities to boost disinformation campaigns, representing a major step forward for Moscow.
Russia has created specialized units dedicated to meddling in the elections of any country where elections are planned.
Moscow's informants and agents operate worldwide with such an extensive network that Russian interference is imminent. Russia’s FSB maintains constant contact with European criminal groups and Russian agents post 166 million disinformation posts about Ukraine on various platforms every week, Danilov said.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
