U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Munich Security Conference, as Washington continues pushing for an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine, CNN reported on Feb. 13.

“I think he’s going to be there and there’s a chance to see him. I believe it’s on my schedule, not 100% certain, but I’m sure we will,” Rubio told reporters before departing for Munich.

Zelenskyy also plans to attend the high-level gathering in Germany on Feb. 13-15, if the security situation in Ukraine allows.

Asked about Russia’s ongoing bombardment, Rubio described the situation as “terrible” and stressed the urgency of ending the conflict.

“It’s a war. That’s why we want the war to end. People are suffering. It’s the coldest time of year. It’s unimaginable, the suffering. That’s the problem with wars. That’s why wars are bad, and that’s why we worked so hard for over a year now to try to bring this one to an end,” he said.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
