Ruling party MP charged with corruption
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) have charged Ukrainian MP Iryna Kormyshkina with illicit enrichment, NABU announced on Oct. 17.
While the agency did not name the lawmaker, journalist Oleh Novikov reported on Telegram that the matter involves Kormyshkina (née Allahverdiyeva).
According to the investigation, the lawmaker (elected from the ruling Servant of the People party) acquired assets worth over UAH 20 million ($485,000) in 2021–2022. She used these funds to purchase a house in Odesa Oblast, where she currently lives.
NABU claims that during this period, Kormyshkina’s official income and savings amounted to no more than UAH 2.7 million ($65,500), which she allegedly "used for other purposes."
Novikov notes that the Higher Anti-Corruption Court previously ordered Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin to initiate proceedings against Kormyshkina for illicit enrichment. Kostin later stated that the MP received gifts amounting to UAH 5.3 million ($129,000), followed by an additional UAH 14.4 million ($350,000), allegedly from her father.
