Aftermath of Russian drone attack on Kyiv — photo report
Russia attacked Kyiv with Shahed drones on Dec. 21. Fragments of the downed drones struck a multi-story building in the Solomyanskyi district.
The strike damaged the upper floors of the building, collapsing walls in three apartments and destroying windows in another three. Two people were injured, suffering from soft tissue bruises and lacerations, though only one required hospitalization.
This is the third consecutive aerial drone strike on the capital in the last six days, according to the head of the city's military administration, Serhiy Popkov.
One of the drones launched by Russia exploded near anti-corruption activist Vitaliy Shabunin house where his children were sleeping. He posted a video on Facebook where a camera captured the characteristic sound of the Iranian Shahed suicide drone, following by an explosion a few seconds later.
“No Ukrainian family will be safe until victory,” wrote Shabunin on Facebook.
Twenty Russian Shahed kamikaze drones and one Kh-59 missile were shot down in the attack, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Dec. 17. One of the drones exploded in Odesa, falling on an apartment building and killing one person.
Earlier, Russian forces launched 10 ballistic missiles
at Kyiv on the night of Dec. 13, with Ukrainian Air Defense intercepting all 10
targets. The attack still injured over 50 people, including six children, Kyiv
Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on Telegram.
