Russia attacks Sumy with shrapnel-equipped Shaheds for the first time
Russian Shahed drones used by the aggressor state’s army to
attack Sumy were equipped with shrapnel, regional officials reported.
“This weapon is designed to kill people, not destroy
infrastructure. This is the first time we’ve seen it in Sumy,” said Oblast
Administration Head Artiukh, according to Suspilne.
Shrapnel is a type of artillery shell containing pre-made
projectiles designed to inflict harm on exposed personnel and enemy equipment.
The ammunition consists of a thin-walled container filled with metal balls or
fragments, propelled by a black powder charge.
Explosions occurred in Sumy during the night of Nov. 22 amid an air raid alert. The Russian attack with Shahed drones killed at least two people and injured 12 others.
