Russia launches 166 drones at Ukraine overnight

Russia's military attacked Ukraine with 166 strike drones overnight into Aug. 28, including Shahed drones (some jet-powered variants), Gerbera drones, and Parodiya decoy drones, Ukraine's Air Force reported on Telegram.
As of 9 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or neutralized 137 of the enemy drones across the country's north, south, east, and central regions, the Air Force said.
Ukrainian forces also recorded drone strikes hitting 16 locations, along with falling debris from downed drones at four additional sites.
The Air Force warned that the aerial attack was still underway, with about 10 Russian drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace at the time of the report.
Russian forces have now attacked Kyiv and the surrounding region with drones continuously for a second straight day. Explosions were heard in the capital, debris was reported falling in several areas, and large-scale fires broke out at warehouses in Kyiv Oblast.
Separately, Russian forces dropped four guided aerial bombs on a Nova Poshta delivery terminal in Sumy, also damaging three trucks, the company said.
Russian forces also struck an Epicentr home-improvement store in Zaporizhzhya, injuring at least four people. A large fire broke out at the site, covering an area of roughly 2,000 square meters (about 21,500 square feet).
