Russia to close several rail border crossings with Finland, Estonia, Latvia

Russia is suspending traffic through a number of rail border
crossings with Finland, Estonia, and Latvia, effective July 1, Moscow
announced on June 30.
The government decree says movement of people, vehicles, goods and cargo will be halted at crossings listed in the document. It did not give a reason for the closures.
Most of the restrictions affect the Finnish border, including crossings at Vyborg, Värtsilä, and three others. Rail traffic will also be fully suspended on the Estonia border at Pechory–Pskov and on the Latvia border at Pytalovo.
Russia’s foreign ministry was instructed to inform Finland, Estonia, and Latvia of the decision, the decree says.
On June 26, The Guardian, citing Western sources,
reported that Russia was preparing military provocations in the Baltic states
or Poland amid pressure from Ukraine’s sustained drone strike campaign targeting
Russia’s rear.
