Russia faces significant problems with the accommodation, training, equipping and deployment of mobilized conscripts, UK intelligence services said in their latest update on Twitter on Oct. 4.
They noted that on Sept. 30, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the usual fall conscription cycle, which aims to train 120,000 conscripts.
By law, these recruits cannot be sent outside Russia, and legally belong to a separate category from those mobilized under an earlier decree on partial mobilization on Sept. 21.
The agency added that the conscription cycle in Russia will begin on Nov. 1 — a month later than usual.
"The late start to the cycle is an indication of growing pressures on Russia’s ability to train and equip a large number of new conscripted personnel," the statement reads.
UK intelligence stresses that Russia's problems with managing its mobilized conscripts appear to be significant, while shortcomings of the Russian administrative and logistics systems will allegedly continue to undermine these efforts.
