An overnight Russian air assault damaged energy facilities in several Ukrainian oblasts, while emergency repair crews were still dealing with the aftermath of the Nov. 8 large-scale missile and drone strikes on the power grid, national energy grid operator Ukrenergo reported on Telegram on Nov. 10.
Rolling blackouts were imposed across Ukraine on Monday.
Most regions will experience scheduled hourly blackouts in two to four stages throughout the day. Power restrictions will also extend to industrial enterprises and businesses in affected areas.
Ukrenergo noted that electricity consumption remains high, with the evening peak on Nov. 9 exceeding the previous day’s figure by 1.9%.
On the night of Nov. 10, Russian forces launched seven missiles and 67 drones. Ukrainian air defenses destroyed or suppressed 52 targets.
Two days earlier, on the night of Nov. 8, Russia carried out one of its largest combined attacks against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure since the start of the full-scale invasion, launching over 500 drones and missiles of various types.
Energy facilities in Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts were targeted.
According to Centrenergo, two of its thermal power plants — the Zmiyivska TPP in Kharkiv Oblast and the Trypilska TPP in Kyiv Oblast — were forced offline as a result of the attacks.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Russia had deliberately targeted substations supplying the Khmelnytskyi and Rivne nuclear power plants.
