Invading Russian forces conducted a missile strike against military infrastructure the city of Myrhorod, Poltava Oblast, the 831st Tactical Aviation Brigade reported on Facebook on Aug. 24.
“Today at 11:00 a.m., Russian troops carried out a group strike with air-to-surface missiles, probably Kh-22, on military infrastructure in the city of Myrhorod,” the report reads.
While the number of victims of the strike is currently unknown, a fire did begin at the impact site. Emergency services and law enforcement are on-site.
Ukrainian officials have previously stressed the increased risk of Russian missile strikes on Aug. 24.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has urged Ukrainians to be vigilant and not ignore air raid warnings before and on Ukraine’s Independence Day, due to possible enemy attacks.
Ukraine’s Operational Command South reported that Russia had increased the number of its missile carriers in the Black Sea in the days leading up to Independence Day.
