Russia moves 2,000 troops, warplanes, missile systems into Belarus

Russia has placed 2,000 troops, several warplanes, and missile systems in Belarus, the Commander of the Joint Forces Serhiy Nayev said on Ukrainian national television on Oct. 13.
He said Russia has placed six strike aircraft, four Iskander mobile short-range ballistic missile systems and 12 S-400 missile systems on Belarusian territory.
Nayev also said Belarusian military airfields and accommodation infrastructure for soldiers are being prepared to receive more troops from Russia.
Earlier, Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko claimed he had agreed with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to deploy a regional military group on the border with Ukraine.
During his speech at the G7 summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed that UN peacekeepers be deployed on the Ukrainian border with Belarus to prevent possible provocations.
