Russian invaders are preparing for an attack on Vyshhorod, a commuter town just north of Kyiv, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“The invaders are proceeding with the preparation for an attack on Vyshhorod. The enemy is also looking to resume the offensive in the directions of the settlements of Hostomel, Irpin, and Stoyanka (northwest of Kyiv – ed.),” they noted.

Earlier today, the Land Forces of Ukraine also reported downing one enemy helicopter over Vyshhorod.

Besides, Russian troops are trying to ensure tactical superiority in the Brovary and Boryspil districts of Kyiv Oblast.

The Ukrainian army command added that the enemy is concentrating its main efforts on the encirclement of the strategic cities of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Mariupol and Mykolayiv. Moreover, the aggressor has not abandoned the attempts to advance to the administrative borders of Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts in eastern Ukraine.

The suburbs of Kyiv in recent days have been subjected to large-scale destruction by the Russian troops. The towns of Irpin, Bucha, Hostomel, Borodyanka, Vasylkiv, and Vorzel were attacked with rockets.

Fierce battles have been going on in Hostomel since the first days of the war between Russia and Ukraine. The invaders captured at least 40 local residents. Numerous people have lost contact with their relatives in the area.

Attempts to evacuate the civilian population from the settlements are ongoing.

At 5 am on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a "military operation" against Ukraine. Previously, the Russian government has repeatedly stated that it will not attack Ukraine, while for months it has been pulling troops and equipment to the Ukrainian borders.

March 7 is the 12th day of a full-scale war with Russia. The invaders are advancing from the north, east and south, shelling peaceful cities from artillery and from the air.

Ordinary Ukrainians and the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to defend themselves, amid the incessant shelling of Ukrainian cities. At the same time, international support is growing – Western countries are increasingly strengthening sanctions against Russia.
