Russia shells Epicentr store in Nikopol — photo
An Epicentr
home improvement store was virtually destroyed by Russian artillery shelling in
Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, public broadcaster Suspilne reported on March
6, citing local officials.
Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Serhiy Lysak posted several photos of the fire at the hypermarket, adding that there were no casualties in the attack.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported that firefighters spent six hours containing the blaze, which spread over an area of 4,000 sq. m.
The spokesperson for Epicentr K company, Yulia Chudnovets, said that no people were on the premises during the artillery strike.
“This was one of the city's largest trading facilities, covering an area of more than 5,100 sq. m, supplying essential goods to all neighboring communities," she wrote in a Facebook post.
Chudnovets added that this is the sixth Epicentr store destroyed by Russian attacks during the war.
