Russia strikes Sumy infrastructure overnight
Overnight on Dec. 20, Russia launched a missile strike
targeting infrastructure in the city of Sumy, the Sumy Oblast Military
Administration (OVA) reported via Telegram.
Preliminary reports indicate no casualties. Emergency
services are at the scene assessing the damage caused by the attack.
The OVA also stated that air defense forces shot down six
Shahed attack drones over Sumy Oblast during the night.
Earlier that night, Russian forces launched multiple groups
of Shahed drones toward Ukraine. By morning, they conducted a massive strike on Kyiv using Kinzhal missiles and ground-based ballistic systems.
In Kyiv, debris from the attack fell in the Holosiivskyi, Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Dniprovskyi districts, causing fires and
damaging a heating pipeline. Meanwhile, in Kryvyi Rih, a Russian missile struck a residential building overnight.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
