Moscow is working to help Tehran and undermine U.S. policy goals in the Iran war, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine said on April 30, as reported by The Guardian.

Speaking at a Senate hearing, Caine said Russia is taking actions to aid Tehran but declined to give details because the hearing was public.

“There’s definitely some action there,” he said.

Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MO), who leads the panel, agreed.

“There’s no question that Vladimir Putin’s Russia is taking serious action to undermine our efforts for success in Iran,” said Wicker.

On March 5, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tehran had not asked Moscow for anything beyond the “political support that Moscow provides.”

In April, The Jerusalem Post, citing sources, reported that Russia gave Iran a list of 55 Israeli energy sites, ranked by three levels of criticality — from major power plants to local infrastructure. The Washington Post has reported that Moscow has provided Tehran intelligence on the locations of U.S. warships and aircraft in the Middle East.
