Sumy ablaze after Russian drone barrage
Several people, including a child, were injured in a Russian drone attack on a densely populated residential neighborhood of Sumy, regional Governor Oleh Hryhorov reported on Telegram shortly after midnight on Sep. 2.
The strikes caused a large fire in the city’s Zarechnyi district.
Several non-residential buildings and shops were destroyed. Four nearby apartment buildings were damaged. One of the drones narrowly missed a kindergarten.
Emergency efforts are underway, and a coordination headquarters has been set up at Specialized School No. 1.
Several public transportation routes have been temporarily adjusted to bypass the site of the attack.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
