Two Russian drones struck near the support structure of Kyiv’s South Bridge on October 1, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported.

A blast wave kicked up dust that entered a metro carriage through the ventilation system around 11:30 a.m. while a train was in motion, but the vehicle remained intact, and no passengers or crew were injured, officials said. The train was subsequently pulled from service and sent to a depot for inspection.

Metro and surface public transport across the bridge have been temporarily suspended following the strike on the structure, Klitschko announced.

Specialists from the municipal bridge maintenance company Kyivavtodor-Mist are inspecting the structure to assess its condition, he added.

The Kyiv City State Administration announced that train service on the metro's Green Line and several surface transit routes were adjusted as city workers dealt with the damage on the South Bridge.

Metro trains are running only on the underground sections between the Syrets and Vydubychi stations, and between Osokorky and Chervonyi Khutir. Meanwhile, buses No. 22 and No. 91 are being rerouted in both directions via the Darnytskyi Railway Bridge.

A Russian drone struck a school in Kyiv's Solomianskyi District on October 1, damaging the exterior and igniting a fire. At the exact moment of the impact, more than 100 students and approximately 60 teachers and school personnel were secured inside the building's underground bomb shelter. Preliminary reports show that there were no casualties in the attack.

A Russian drone barrage targeted Kyiv overnight on October 1, sparking fires in residential buildings and warehouses across the capital’s Solomianskyi, Obolonskyi, and Pecherskyi districts. The attack wounded one person.

In total, Russia launched 107 drones against Ukraine in the overnight attack. UAVs made impact at 11 locations with debris from shot-down targets falling in four locations.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
