Ukrainian troops take down Russian flags in Toretsk and neutralize 'standard bearers'
Russian forces in Toretsk, Donetsk Oblast, are attempting to raise tricolor flags for propaganda purposes, the Khortytsia operational-strategic group reported on Feb. 10.
Ukrainian forces reported that Russian troops attempted six times in the past day to plant Russian flags at various locations.
“Our UAV operators destroyed the Russian tricolor flags along with the ‘standard-bearers,’” the Khortytsia operational-strategic group said.
Russian forces, backed by artillery and various UAVs, continue to assault Ukrainian positions in Chasiv Yar, Toretsk, and the Shcherbinivka area.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Khyzhak Brigade released a video showing Russian troops unsuccessfully trying to raise a flag over Toretsk.
Heavy urban fighting continues in Toretsk, which remains under Ukrainian control.
Khortytsia district spokesperson Viktor Trehubov said Russia is falsely claiming to have captured the city to obscure its military losses in the Kursk region.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
