Russian invaders again dropping guided bombs, says South Operational Command
Russian invasion forces in Ukraine have resumed their use of guided bombs, hampering the work of Ukraine’s air defences, head of the Joint Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, Natalia Humeniuk, said on Ukrainian national television July 1.
"The enemy has returned to attacking with guided bombs,” Humeniuk said.
“They have held them back for a while, but their tactical aircraft have intensified their actions once again.”
Humeniuk also said that the Russians had intensified attacks with Lancet-type UAVs – loitering strike drones.
“This indicates the certain difficulties they’re having with artillery work," Humeniuk said.
However, an overall decreass in the number of enemy attacks may be evidence that they are suffering from ammunition shortages, she suggested.
Recent Ukrainian attacks far behind the front line on Russian ammunition depots and on the Chonhar bridge between Russian-occupied Crimea and Kherson Oblast – a vital supply artery into the south of Ukraine for the Russians – may have complicated and delayed the supply of ammunition to the front lines, military experts said earlier.
Humeniuk said that the Russians are trying to distribute their defence forces as widely as possible along the frontline in order to prevent the Ukrainian forces from breaking through it.
Meanwhile, Russian invading forces tried to advance in five different sections of the front in the last day, but to no avail, the Ukrainian military’s General Staff reported.
