Children injured, several missing after Russian overnight attack on Donetsk and Khmelnytskyi Oblasts
Russia launched an overnight assault on Ukraine, deploying 20 kamikaze drones and striking Donetsk Oblast with eight guided anti-aircraft missiles S-300, Ukraine’s Air Force reported in Telegram on Nov. 30.
Russia simultaneously struck three cities in Donetsk Oblast, injuring ten people, including four children. Internal Affairs Minister Ihor Klymenko, on Telegram on Nov. 30, adding that five more individuals are being searched for under the rubble.
“Occupiers struck Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast, with six S-300 missiles simultaneously at night. Police paramedics saved a baby,” he said.
Among the injured in Pokrovsk is a family with two children: a 16-year-old boy and a 6-month-old baby. A 13-year-old boy was also injured. Preliminary data indicates damage to an apartment building, nine private houses, a police department, cars, and garages.
One shell exploded in the yard of a house where a family with two children lived. The house's roof and walls were destroyed, trapping the family under the rubble.
A police paramedic assisted a man in rescuing a bleeding baby from the rubble. The baby, named Ilai, was taken to the hospital, with no threat to his life.
The cities of Novohradivka and Myrnograd were also hit by the shelling.
Russians hit an apartment building in Novohradivka, injuring a 13-year-old child. The State Emergency Service and police continue rescue efforts, with five more individuals, including a child, potentially under the rubble.
Russian forces targeted Myrnograd with two S-300 missiles, causing damage to the police station. The State Emergency Service and police worked throughout the night at the hit sites, documenting the consequences of the Russian strikes.
Russian drone attacks came from two directions: occupied Crimea and Primorsk-Akhtarsk.
Fragments of kamikaze drones fell on the territory of a former factory in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, the first deputy head of the regional governor, Serhiy Tyurin, reported on Facebook on Nov. 30.
Air defense forces were operating in Shepetivka district during the attack. Air raid alerts were issued in several Ukrainian oblasts due to the threat of a new Russian attack. During the air raid alert in Odesa, sounds of explosions were reported. Air defense was also active in Vinnytsia Oblast.
The Air Force reported that Ukrainian forces successfully shot down 14 kamikaze drones. No casualties or fires were reported, but the extent of the damage is still being assessed.
