Russian soldier hits artillery shell with axe, triggers explosion — video
In a baffling incident, a Russian soldier lost his hand when trying to disassemble an artillery round with an axe, as seen in a video circulating on social media on July 19.
Joined by two fellow soldiers, the man was dismantling the ordnance using makeshift tools: a chisel and an axe.
While it’s not obvious as to why the shell was getting disassembled, such blatant disregard for basic safety protocols led to a detonation.
As a result, the soldier lost his hand, while his comrades sustained shrapnel injuries and scattered in different directions, abandoning their injured friend.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
