Russian soldiers in the Chernihiv front surrendering amid massive losses
Russian invaders fighting in Ukraine’s Chernihiv region are suffering from significant losses, causing many to surrender, the General Staff of Ukraine reported on its Facebook page on March 11.
“As the invaders keep fighting against Ukraine’s Armed Forces on the territory of Chernihiv Oblast, they keep on taking substantial losses,” reads the statement.
"As a result, the invading soldiers deployed in that direction have low morale and are surrendering."
No real changes in the positions of either the Ukrainian or Russian forces have occurred in the last six hours.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said earlier that Ukraine’s policy of accepting the surrender of Russian soldiers is based on the Geneva Conventions, the framework of international law intended to set humanitarian standards during wartime.
