Russian Tatarstan under attack as drones strike vital facilities
Drone attacks struck Russia’s Tatarstan Oblast, causing explosions in Kazan, Nizhny Kamsk, Yelabuga, and Naberezhnye Chelny, the Russian Telegram channel Astra reported on Aug. 12.
It was reported that the drone threat in Almetyevsk has been neutralized. Residents in local chat rooms said they saw firefighters “heading somewhere” with their lights on.
Fire crews also left Naberezhnye Chelny, moving toward Nizhnekamsk airport.
Rosaviatsia announced temporary restrictions at Kazan and Nizhnekamsk airports.
On Aug. 11, drones from the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense struck the Orenburg Helium Plant in Orenburg, Russia. This plant is Russia’s only producer of a critically important component used in missile manufacturing, the space industry, and aviation.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
