Russian troops enter Sudzha in Kursk Oblast, battles ongoing
Russian troops entered Sudzha in Russia’s Kursk Oblast as they established fire control over the Yunakivka-Sudzha road, a Ukrainian military officer told Suspilne on March 12.
The Deep State project map as of March 11 also indicates Russian forces advancing into the eastern part of the city from the village of Myrnyi.
Meanwhile, several Russian propaganda channels have released a video claiming that Russian troops have already reached the city center, specifically Sovetskaya Square.
Earlier, on March 8, Suspilne, citing a Ukrainian military officer, reported that Russian forces breached Ukraine’s defensive line south of Sudzha, primarily using DPRK troops and extensive Russian drone attacks on fiber-optic infrastructure.
Situation in Kursk Oblast
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported on March 7 that Russian forces advanced into Ukraine’s Sumy Oblast for the first time since 2022, aiming to threaten encirclement and push Ukrainian troops out of Kursk Oblast.
However, Ukraine’s General Staff denied claims of a large-scale border breach in Sumy.
On March 7, DeepState reported that Russian forces were attempting to cut off Ukrainian military logistics between the Sumy and Kursk oblasts.
On March 8, The Telegraph reported that a lack of U.S. intelligence allowed Russian troops to break through Ukrainian positions in Russia’s Kursk Oblast, putting Ukrainian forces at risk of encirclement.
North Korean troops continue to advance in the Sudzha area, according to DeepState.
By March 11, DeepState reported that Russian troops were intensifying pressure on Ukrainian positions in Kursk Oblast, consolidating their presence and reinforcing in eastern Sudzha.
