Russia’s invading forces have begun to fortify their positions along the Mariupol-Donetsk highway, Mariupol mayoral advisor Petro Andriushchenko said on Telegram on March 14.

Work is underway near the village of Hranitne, as well as near the viaduct connecting the roads from Donetsk city to Berdyansk and Mariupol.

“They’re intensively digging trenches,” Andriushchenko said.

“With their hands. Now ‘there is no panic’ in the direction of Donetsk.”

Three explosions rocked the Russian-occupied Mariupol on March 13. Russian aircraft took to the air after the explosions.

Video of day

On March 11, the Mariupol City Council reported that two hits were recorded in the city, likely at Russian positions.

The head of the Joint Press Center of South Operational Command, Natalia Humeniuk, previously stated that the Mariupol is now within the range of Ukrainian weapons.

Earlier, video started circulating on social media of Russian trenches being built on the west coast of Ukraine’s Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula.

A line of trenches built on the beaches north of the city of Yevpatoria, stretching some 3.6 kilometers, including a SAM air defense position, was later spotted on satellite imagery in early March.
