imagery company Maxar Technologies has published photos of Bakhmut, Donetsk
Oblast, taken one year apart – in mid-May 2022, 2023.
The photos show the scale of the city's destruction, with residential buildings and other infrastructure completely annihilated by months-long artillery battles between Ukrainian and Russian forces.
On May 17, Ukrainian deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said that the Defense Forces managed to liberate about 20 square kilometers of territory around Bakhmut, but Russian troops made some progress in the city itself.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
